![]() The mathematical equation describing it, is Xn+2= Xn+1 + Xn The Fibonacci sequence is one of the most prominent mathematical formulas.Įach number in the sequence is the sum of the two numbers that precede it. Pinecones exhibit a golden spiral, as do the seeds in a sunflower, according to "Phyllotaxis: A Systemic Study in Plant Morphogenesis" (Cambridge University Press, 1994). The spiral arrangement of leaves or petals on some plants follows the golden ratio. The Fibonacci sequence is also related to the golden ratio. 1170 and after whom the Fibonacci sequence is (nick)named, it is believed that the number 108 has a way of representing the wholeness of existence. It represents the unity and wholeness of existenceĪccording to the mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci, who was born around A.D. Let’s look at some of the reasons why 108 is considered to be a sacred number:ġ. The number 108 is sacred in mathematics, geometry, astrology, numerology and in many world religions and spiritual traditions. Ancient yogis believed that we can attune ourselves to the rhythms of creation by completing practices in rounds of this sacred number.ġ08 seems to be a mysterious number that connects the ancient world to the modern world and also connects the physical realm to the metaphysical realm. Pranayama cycles are often repeated in 108 cycles and even sun salutations are often completed in nine rounds of the 12 postures, which when multiplied, adds up to 108. That’s the reason why malas used for japa (silent repetition of a mantra) are composed of 108 beads – with an additional “meru” bead, which when reached, prompts the practitioner to count the mala beads in reverse order. In yoga, the number 108 refers to spiritual completion. Considered to be the most auspicious number of all, 108 also happens to be the number of stitches on a baseball. The number 108 has always been a highly revered number for thousands of years, coveted by many spiritual traditions and ascribed special significance in meditation and prayer. Yogis found the number 108 to be such a key. Mystics of all traditions around the world, found that numbers offered more than scientific insight-they offered a secret language for awakening, a key to our own intuition and higher aspects of our being. He maintained that the mysteries of creation itself could be solved through numbers and mathematical equations. He said that the universe is written “ in mathematical language”. Scale bars: 20 μm.Astronomer, mathematician, and physicist Galileo Galilei made an interesting statement. ![]() Cells expressing mGPIHBP1-W108S did not bind cLPL-wt. Immunocytochemistry studies were performed on permeabilized and nonpermeabilized cells with a goat antibody against the S-protein tag (red) and a mouse monoclonal antibody against the V5 tag (green). We conclude that LPL reaches the capillary lumen in chickens - as it does in mammals - despite an apparent absence of GPIHBP1.ĬHO pgsA-745 cells were transiently transfected with S-protein–tagged wild-type human (h) or mouse (m) GPIHBP1 (or hGPIHBP1-W109S or mGPIHBP1-W108S) and coplated with cells that had been transfected with V5-tagged versions of cLPL (wt or C420Y). However, we could not identify a gene for GPIHBP1 in the chicken genome, nor could we identify a transcript for GPIHBP1 in a large chicken RNA-seq data set. Remarkably, chicken LPL bound in a specific fashion to mammalian GPIHBP1. LPL was released rapidly from chicken hearts with an infusion of heparin, consistent with LPL being located inside blood vessels. ![]() ![]() When the antibodies against chicken LPL were injected intravenously into chickens, they bound to LPL on the luminal surface of capillaries in heart and adipose tissue. Using purified antibodies against chicken LPL, we showed that LPL is present on capillary endothelial cells of chicken heart and adipose tissue, colocalizing with von Willebrand factor. The obvious question is whether the LPL in lower vertebrates is able to reach the capillary lumen. In all lower vertebrate species (e.g., birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish), a gene for LPL can be found easily, but a gene for GPIHBP1 has never been found. In mammals, GPIHBP1 is absolutely essential for transporting lipoprotein lipase (LPL) to the lumen of capillaries, where it hydrolyzes the triglycerides in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. ![]()
